Membership
Why does membership matter?
Membership is a way of saying, “I am committed to being part of this community.”
Membership is more than simply committing to attend church. It means choosing to be part of a community of people who may not all be the same, but who share a desire to know Jesus more deeply.
As members, we worship together, serve together, give together, care for one another, and live into God's unshakable kingdom together.
Membership also gives you the opportunity to vote on congregational matters and to serve on our Lead Team and in other leadership roles.
-
Anyone who is baptized can become a member after attending our 90 minute membership class, completing an application and meeting with our leadership team.
-
Everyone is welcome to attend any gathering at First Covenant, whether that is a Wednesday night dinner, Sunday morning worship or anything else. To become a member means you are committed to making First Covenant your faith home and you will participate fully in the life of the church.
-
We offer a membership class twice a year—once in the fall and once in the spring. The class is a chance to learn more about First Covenant, our beliefs, our history, and what it means to be part of our church family.
Following the 90-minute class, you will have the opportunity to complete a membership application and interest form. You will then meet with members of our Lead Team to share your story and talk about your desire to become part of FCC.
After that conversation, we will welcome you into membership!
-
We believe membership is about actively participating in the life of the church and growing together in our capacity to Love God and Love our Neighbors.
We encourage our members to worship regularly, serve with others, invest in the life of our church and community, and give their time, talents, and treasures. Just as importantly, membership means being willing to receive from others—to allow ourselves to be cared for, encouraged, challenged, and supported as we follow Jesus together.
-
No! You do not have to become a member to be part of First Covenant.
We are glad to have you worship, serve, participate, and build relationships with us whether or not you take the step toward membership.
If you feel that First Covenant is becoming your church home, we would love to invite you to consider membership.
